Welcome to the new Hauli Huvila website! Our old website served its purpose of giving Hauli Huvila a presence online, however it had become severely outdated and challenging to maintain. We’ve wanted to make a new website for a while, but we didn’t have anyone that had the expertise and time to volunteer. That is until this summer when Terry Majamäki became a member and began attending the Hauli Huvila events.
Terry’s been involved in the Internet field and making websites since the early 1990s. He volunteered to create a new website for Hauli Huvila and the site you see today is the result of his efforts. He took the lead and using the old site as the starting point, along with his experiences from his visits during Memorial Day and the Golf & Games weekends this Summer, rebuilt the entire Hauli Huvila website into a great Online experience that clearly represents what Hauli Huvila has to offer, showcases who we are, and what we represent.
New Website Tour
First thing you’ll notice is the new homepage slide show that showcases a few of the great things about Hauli Huvila, giving visitors a light tour and immediate view of what Hauli Huvila is and what it has to offer our visitors. Then right from the home page visitors can learn more about Hauli Huvila’s campgrounds, cabins, facilities, events, and more, allowing visitors to jump right to the important information they need.
Now in addition to simply learning a little bit more about Hauli Huvila the new About section provides more depth and insight into Hauli Huvila, our history of how Hauli Huvila came to be, and more importantly showcases the team of directors and board members that volunteers to keeps the camp running smoothly.
Then on top of that, we now have a volunteers page that allows us to showcase anyone that has volunteered their time at Hauli Huvila, be it helping out in the kitchen for a camp meal, or attending our talkoot work weekends in the Fall or Spring. As Hauli Huvila is a volunteer driven camp and community, we would not be where we are today without the efforts of all our volunteers. This is a great way for us to say thank you and honor those that have contributed to the success of Hauli Huvila! You can even submit a request to volunteer on your next visit to Hauli Huvila.
Before we didn’t really have a whole lot of information about the actual camp property other than some of our rates. Now within the Information section we have a full overview of everything Hauli Huvila has to offer visitors. Detailed information and photos on our campgrounds, cabins, and facilities, providing an overview of each section so vistors have a clear picture of what to expect when visiting Hauli Huvila.
In addition to the property information, there is now an overview of the many family fun-filled activities happening regularly at Hauli Huvila and an events page giving the specific dates of our event and holiday weekends, and our Spring and Fall Talkoot work weekends. Then you can learn more about Hauli Huvila’s rates and membership, along with some helpful local information about the town of Reedley and the surrounding areas. Most importantly we now have a greatly improved directions page that provides you with the tools to get here and what to do once you arrive.
An important part of Hauli Huvila is the guidelines that Mr. Hauli left behind for us. These are his words for us, the volunteers and visitors, to follow and honor when we are at Hauli Huvila. These guidelines are now available on the information page in the original Finnish language as well as a translated english version for everyone to read.
A big part of Hauli Huvila is doing things as a community and sharing it. On our previous site we had photo gallery section, but it had become outdated. Now we have a new and improved gallery section that includes all the latest photos over the last 6 years, plus some now include videos! The new gallery has larger photos to view and an improved slideshow functionality, it is a great way to experience the events at Hauli Huvila. All the photos are pulled from our new Flickr account and the videos come from our new YouTube channel. In addition to this, we also have created a Hauli Huvila Flickr group that anyone can join and share own Hauli Huvila photos.
Got Hauli Huvila photos and videos? Now you can share them with us on our site, we have a gallery request page that allows you to submit and share your Hauli Huvila photos with us. Also don’t forget to share a link to your Hauli Huvila photos and videos on our Facebook page.
We now have a blog! We can post announcements and write about Hauli Huvila news and happenings. While we haven’t written much yet, the blog does also house all our photo galleries from the past. We have added a few articles including our time capsule “aikakapseli” article which is in Finnish, along with some post of other sites that have written about Hauli Huvila.
Search and Social
You can search the entire site, from the menu at the top, simply click the magnifying glass icon and that will bring up a search box that will allow you to search the entire site.
Along with the new Hauli Huvila website we have expanded into other social spaces. In addition to our Facebook page, now have a Twitter account, a Flickr account and a community Hauli Huvila Flickr Group, which is open for anyone to join and share their Hauli Huvila photos.
